Itinerario Japón 10 días: de Tokio a Kioto en primavera

Traveling to Japan in spring is an unparalleled experience. Parks fill with cherry blossoms, the weather is mild, and the country experiences one of its most special times of the year. It's the season of hanami, when locals and travelers gather under the trees to enjoy the ephemeral beauty of the sakura.

This 10-day Japan itinerary is designed for a first spring trip, combining essential cities, well-connected train excursions, and some of the best places to see cherry blossoms.

The route follows a simple and efficient logic: start in Tokyo, explore the Alps and the Kansai region, and end in Kyoto and Osaka without constantly changing hotels.

Days 1–3: Tokyo and first cherry blossoms

Tokyo is often the gateway to the country and an unforgettable first contact. In spring, parks come alive, and cherry trees begin to bloom in late March and early April.

The first day can be spent strolling through Shibuya and Shinjuku, two of the city's most iconic neighborhoods. The Shibuya crossing is one of Japan's most famous sights, while the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building observatory offers free panoramic views.

The second day can focus on more traditional Tokyo: Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa and Meiji Shrine in Harajuku. Ueno Park is one of the most popular places to see cherry blossoms during this season.

The third day is ideal for discovering the city's modern side: teamLab Planets, Akihabara district, or an afternoon of shopping in Ginza.

You can find more information in our complete guide to Japan in spring.

Day 4: Hakone and Mount Fuji views

Hakone is a very popular excursion from Tokyo and one of the best places to enjoy natural landscapes in spring.

The usual itinerary includes a boat ride on Lake Ashi, the cable car over the volcanic Owakudani Valley, and, weather permitting, views of Mount Fuji.

Staying overnight in a ryokan with an onsen offers one of the most special experiences of the trip.

Days 5–7: Kyoto, traditional Japan in spring

Kyoto is one of the best places in the country to see cherry blossoms. The ancient capital preserves temples, historic streets, and gardens that reach their peak splendor in spring.

The first day can be dedicated to Kiyomizu-dera Temple and the Higashiyama district, where traditional streets create a unique atmosphere.

The second day is perfect for visiting Fushimi Inari Shrine and its thousands of red torii gates. It can also be combined with Sanjusangendo Temple.

The third day can focus on Arashiyama, home to the famous bamboo forest and Togetsukyo Bridge.

The Philosopher's Path is one of Japan's most beautiful walks during sakura season.

Day 8: Excursion to Nara among temples and deer

Nara was Japan's first permanent capital and is home to some of the country's most important temples.

Nara Park is known for its free-roaming deer, which approach visitors with complete ease.

Todai-ji Temple houses one of the largest Buddha statues in the world.

The excursion from Kyoto takes less than an hour by train.

Day 9: Osaka and its gastronomic scene

Osaka offers a more relaxed and casual atmosphere than Kyoto, in addition to being one of the best places to discover Japanese cuisine.

Dotonbori district is one of the city's most lively areas, concentrating restaurants, neon signs, and street food stalls.

It's the perfect place to try takoyaki or okonomiyaki. Osaka Castle offers a deeper insight into the country's feudal history.
